Five Stars
Good read.
and they didn't fall in love with Zhou En Lai like Marshall
Tuchman is generous in her estimate of Stilwell's abilities, and she unfairly discounts the ability of Wedemeyer, who succeeded Stilwell.
How an ally in the WW2 was betrayed
Tuchman was the daughter of the banker Maurice Wertheim.
One of Tuchman's Best
Even if you are not a "war story reader" you will thoroughly enjoy this engaging story of Stilwell, the Burma Road, and WWII in China.
Stilwell
Incredibly written mix of personality and history, one if best about this period in China, couldn't put it down, recommend it highly.
Excellent Book
I lost the hard cover copy of this book in Hurricane Katrina.
History at it's best
I read this book in the early 70's and lost it along the way, I bought a well worn copy a few years ago to read it again.
another great Tuchman book
The book deals with a under appreciated theater of WW2.
