I'm rereading this series for the third time -- Rhys Bowen created a wonderful set of characters in a charming setting in Wales and all through the series it is a joy to watch the characters grow as they encounter new problems to be overcome.

I picked this up as I've been reading Rhys Bowen's enjoyable Royal Spyness series, and found the book to be not humorous and tongue in cheek, but instead a very competent and thoroughly involving British police procedural, with an interesting group of characters, intelligent protagonist, good dialogue and well-executed plot.
