"Do you the devil's work"
The writing of this book seems to have been fueled by a partial belief in something akin to Theosophy and/or Satanism, a study of the nastiest bits of the last 400 years of European history, and quite possibly a lot of hallucinogenic drugs.

A good place to start reading Moorcock
Though this is the second volume of the series, the stories are probably stronger, so if you haven't read Moorcock it is a good place to start.

Moorcock continues to amaze
The three full-length novels contained within this volume are each so different, one from the other, that the reader cannot help but be amazed that the same author wrote all three!

A very different Moorcock
If you only know Michael Moorcock through his Elric series, this will be quite a different take on the Eternal Champion.

The War Hound and the World's Pain, book 1 of this omnibus.
I would rank War Hound and the World's Pain among Moorcock's top 5 (along with The Quest for Tanelorn, Stormbringer, The King of Swords, etc.
