This novel is up there with the best of Kafka (imho) and more gut-bucket
I feel compelled to write a review to counter some of the one star reviews by flummoxed readers.
Nothing Like It… I Love It!
I read it 30 years ago, and was very happy to find it again.
In the distant future after civilization has collapsed, no one can hear your English teacher scream
What if "Flowers for Algernon", "A Clockwork Orange" and John Crowley's "Engine Summer" had some kind of strange, threesome induced love-child?
Two Stars
The post-apocolyptic language the book is written in is annoying..
Not all it's cracked up to be...
First, as many of the reviews point out, the book is written in a future vernacular, a devolved sort of English.
but this book is too beyond amazing. It is a grand adventure
I don't normally write reviews, but this book is too beyond amazing.
A sharp stick in the eye
After reading all the \"glowing\" reviews about this book, I took a chance and read it.
Don't do it, if you want just look at how the Iron Age found gunpowder
This book right here almost killed my love of reading.
Nice purchase for a collector
Haven't read the book yet...
At last, a Normal book that explains this Abnormal world!
Simply brilliant.
