Essentially this is how to draw a line. Instead of just saying left click and move the mouse to set the length of the line, this is said "Proceed now to the drawing area, and while you're there, point out the origin, also known as the starting point, from which you will draw the line.
• Move the mouse away from the beginning point so that the appropriate amount of space is shown in the dimension box; this will indicate the distance between the cursor and the starting point."
