Sliding mitt that will serve its purpose
Our kiddo will be using this for first year of baseball where sliding is permitted and encouraged. These are very young kids and we don't want a hand injury to occur that could have been prevented.Works well but is a bit big on the child (9.5 years old and average height and weight per charts and doctor). Child said it doesn't bother him that it is big bur I think it does a bit big child is fiddling with the mitt constantly and trying to tighten it.Overall, we are happy. He can grow into it as long as ot holds up.

The quality of this training glove really impressed me. It is very well constructed and sewn together. I plan to use it in multiple ways to help train up my sons in all of their Little League Sports. For example, besides baseball and sliding, I thought of an idea to use it as a restrictive mitt for my oldest dominant hand. He's a rightee who needs to work on and use his left hand more (his left hand dribbling in basketball is below average). And no worries, my oldest is okay with this idea because he recognizes that he does want to build his left hand dexterity, coordination, and strength -- but kids will be kids, he forgets to consciously use his left hand more around the house.
In addition, I tried it out on my hands and I was impressed with how I can firmly tighted the mitt+straps to immobilize my wrist+hand therefore, Dad can also use it as I Sleep "Carpel Tunnnel" Brace.
Hate to admit it, but my older bones (wrists+hand) sometimes ache after a long day of fishing with boys, sports with boys, wrestlin with boys - but, hey, dont tell my boys that, lol

Excellent tool for learning, rather large

My son is in his first year of baseball, and he is working on learning how to slide and dive properly into the bases. he requested a sliding mitt which is something I never used in the 10 years That I played travel softball. I had actually never heard of one of these before then. I went ahead and decided to order him one even though I wasn’t sure it would be beneficial at all. After opening and inspecting the product, I can see that I was wrong. This is very protective and sturdy enough to keep your fingers from being jammed or injured. Should someone accidentally step on them while sliding or diving into a base. I have seen others in the state that their player keeps them in their back pocket and puts it on once they get onto the base. I had just assumed this would be a training tool that they would use until they had learned and were comfortable enough to go without it. I’m not sure what my son will decide to do or if the glove would fit into his back pocket of his baseball pants, as it is quite large and thick. Either way, I do believe this will assist him in becoming more confident in his ability to safely slide and dive on the field. It is able to be used ambidextrously and you are able to adjust the tightness or looseness with the Velcro strap, which is great because it can be used for small children and adults. It is quite well and very sturdy and durable. I am interested to see how it will work in a live scenario at his next practice.
