I'm not sure about these strong ties. They're designed exactly like the joist hangers I purchase locally, but these are less expensive. The metal is thick, has holding spikes, and has pre-drilled holes for strong tie screws or nails. The product specs state these are hot dipped galvanized, but the shinny, almost mirror finish does not appear so. In the past, hot dipped galvanized I'm familiar with is not so mirror-like, but I can't say for sure. I will not use these on the exterior until I can experiment with the weathering of the metal. Here, our humidity will tell quickly how resistant to corrosion these brackets really are. Otherwise, these brackets are a good deal on strong ties.
