Let's me use my Dewalt batteries with Makita compatible tools
I wish manufacturers would adopt a standard battery mount that matches a voltage, but they don't. So, these types of battery adapters are a good answer.This one converts my Dewalt 20v battery to work with any tool that takes an 18/20v Makita battery.You'll see batteries listed as 18v, 20v, and 21v. They are all likely made from the same 18650-type lithium-ion batteries. 18650 batteries are referred to as 3.7 volt and that's where the 18 volt designation comes from. However, at max charge, 18650 batteries could be up to 4.2 volts and that's where the 21-volt designation comes from. Then, some use 20, just because I guess.So, this just works.It also has a USB port that can turn the battery into a power bank. It does not do a PD fast charge, but rather an old-fashioned USB 1 to 2 AMP charge. But, for emergency power outage use, it's a nice feature to include. Or perhaps you have a USB-charged tool that is dead and you need to use it now.So, now, whenever I look for a battery-operated tool, I'm going to prefer one that either works with batteries I have or works with a battery converter that I can obtain.
