The bottom has 4 plastic "feet" designed to not scratch surfaces but it makes it EXTREMELY slippery! We used it for seniors to step into and out of our bus and someone almost fell because it slid. We have yet to find a surface it does not slide on. We had to remove the feet and it's better but there goes the anti scratch element. That doesn't matter for us but it may for someone else.

The only two times I used this step, I could feel it bend under my weight (which is very heavy, but not 400 pounds). I also heard it cracking. I would not trust this step more than two or three times before it breaks. I missed the return deadline, so to a charity shop it goes. [Edit: I tried it one more time, and the key is to step directly on the center of the stool, where the brace is. Then it's fine.]
