4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 4,755 ratings

The critically acclaimed, internationally bestselling Tom Marlowe series starts here!

They tried to kill him - now he wants
revenge.

Someone is killing old spies. Retired and forgotten, these relics from the Cold War are being removed—quietly and brutally.

And when “Section D” MI5 agent Tom Marlowe, on medical leave after a botched mission learns his old mentor is one of the murdered ex-agents, he starts an investigation that threatens to cost him his career, his freedom… and even his life.

Uncovering a conspiracy linked to a late-eighties operation called RUBICON, one involving long-forgotten Russian sleeper agents, now operating in the highest echelons of Westminster, Marlowe is thrown down a rabbit hole that forces him off the grid and on the run, hunted by his own people.

Out in the cold, with his air supply cut off, burned from working with any allied agency and with only disavowed spies to rely on, Marlowe must try to clear his name and expose this threat, before the US President is assassinated during his next London visit, and a new World War begins...

The first book in the critically acclaimed, internationally bestselling series of Tom Marlowe thrillers, written by New York Times #1 Bestseller Tony Lee writing as Jack Gatland, Sleeping Soldiers is perfect for fans of James Patterson, Mark Dawson, Lee Child, Mick Herron and Robert Ludlum, among others.

The characters were lively and the plot was well laid. Tom Marlowe is some super spy with fast moves and plenty of timely backup.

The names of the characters were a bit confusing to me. Have, it was a good read. Lots of intrigued and plot twists and turns.

Really good action and suspense novel with cloak and dagger aspects. Good characterization and plot. A lot of twists and plot turns as required by the genre. I liked it from the start and loved it by the finish. Series starter.

A spy book unlike any I’ve read before. Is there really sleeper cells? Read to find out. Does have a surprising ending you will enjoy.

Not a bad read at all, but you should know a G lock does not have an exterior hammer, page 152 of 334 at 46 percent. This was over all quite good. Try Baby Blue by Lloyd Albritton...

Enjoyed the book from the beginning of the story to the last paragraph. The main character was an action packed figure with a lot of interesting resources to pull from I believe anyone who wants to read a spy thriller, this is the story for sure

Gatland tells a great story filled with twists within twists yet he still catches you at the end. I hope this is not the last we hear of Tom Marlowe! He is a character who is bigger than life - just as his mentor was!!

Yes, it's not just a case of Geo-Political War between highest and lowest ideologies from pole to pole. It is a professional writer filling the story with multiple characters through knowledge of all layers, types and classes of the population as he pulls the reader through every narrow crevice to the next, immediate action!

This is a non-stop adventure! I couldn’t put it down. We’d met Tom Marlowe before and now we will be able to follow his adventures! I don’t believe for one minute that he won’t give up the spy life!

I think this was one of my Amazon first read books and I’ve had it sitting in my library for a while. Tom is an all action spy, discredited and trying to stop WW3 starting. The book is cram packed full of action and you’ll be trying to work out who is on the good side and bad. You will have a few surprises along the way, although you always know Tom will save the day. There was a slight twist right at the end of the book though. I enjoyed the book and will probably now read book 2. 4.75 out of 5 from me.

Nice fast paced story, well written with some lighter sides. I have some other stuff to read first but I defiantly will be reading book 2 once Marlowe has had a break.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deviously exhilarating

A thoroughly exciting and deviously exhilarating novel. Tom Marlowe, an on the outer agent, associated with a department of government security, is heavily involved in a secret relating to undercover and sleeping agents has the impossible job of discovering just who and who is not involved with the cover up of espionage and who is working to hide the list of spies who have been hidden for decades just waiting to be recalled into action once more.
