Update to my earlier review of this product: I received word from the vendor that they will refund my purchase of these wooden blanks. That was the right thing to do. They further stated that some of their blocks are high in density and some are low in density. They said that this is a natural characteristic of wood and that they cannot change their own ingredients but just their shape and size. They did not mention that their blanks have been stabilized which process would modify the wood cellular structure and improve the dimensional stability and/or other material properties of the wood. They claim that many other crafting enthusiasts have bought their wooden blocks and are very satisfied but my review is currently the only one shown on Amazon from a buyer in the United States. They also questioned the tools and operation method that I used to turn the blanks. Obviously each person can choose to buy this product or not. Mine is only one experience with this product, others may have a different outcome.
