installation

Q1: Why pump is not running?

A1: When pump is not running the reason would be: 1. the power supply is not connected or wiring is faulty; 2. Internal components are damaged by ingress of impurities, falls or hit. Please: 1. Reconnect wires correctly, red wire is positive, black wire is negative; 2. Tell us via Amazon message for a relacement.

Q2: Why pump is running but not absorb fuel?

A2: 1.There is Leakage in fuel inlet pipe; 2.The inside of the pump is too dry or there is air inside. Please: 1.Check or change fuel inlet pipe. 2.Drop 5-10ml fuel into inlet of pump to lubricate.

Q3: Why it is low flow?

A3: The pump is installed in a high position. Please install within 12" (about 30cm) height from fuel tank.

Q4: Leaking problem

A4: When installing the filter to the inlet, too large torque may due to nut loosen and cause leakage. Please install manually instead of using tools; adding Teflon tape (or waterproof seal tape) or applying sealant to the filter. If still not be solved please tell us via Amazon message for a relacement.

If you have any other issues, questions, or concerns about the product please feel free to let us know via Amazon-Customer-Service.

So there is no misunderstanding, this is the part I purchased from Amazon and received, directly from Carbole:CarBole 42S Electric Gasoline Fuel Pump Universal 5/16 inch Inlet and Outlet 12V 1-2A 28GPH 2-3.5 PSI Operating Fuel Pressure 2-wire DesignSold by: CarBoleSome history: I purchased my used John Deere Z425 mower from a local ad on CL with no guarantee. It ran fine and needed a few adjustments but I was happy with the Briggs Vtec 23 hp engine. It had plenty of power to cut the pasture grass which grows profusely in my back yard, apprx 3 acres. That is until it stopped running suddenly and would not restart. Fuel available all the way to the carb, would start and run for a minute with a shot of gas to the carb throat but couldn't get it to run past that. The next day it started and ran for a few more cuts in my yard but soon the same issue. Long story short, many hours fussing with the fuel solenoid, new fuel filter, new fuel lines, complete tune-up: I finally concluded that I had a 'flakey' mechanical fuel pump. It would pump fuel to the carb but didn't have enough pressure to push past the solenoid into the fuel bowl. It would stop pumping with the slightest pressure. So I though about replacing the oem pump with a new mechanical pump but saw some blogs about converting the engine to an electric fuel pump. So I ordered what seemed to have the best replacement record at a good price point and ordered it from Amazon. Although a few dollars more than the cheapest, I've had excellent service making my purchases through Amazon. The new pump arrived in brand new packaging, looked to be directly from CarBole according to the return address and invoice. I decided to install it where the mechanical pump was and it was almost a perfect replacement. I only had to elongate the mounting holes about 1 mm. I also brute forced my 1/4" fuel lines onto the 5/16" connectors on the pump. I didn't check if it would self-prime but filled the pump with MMO to prelubricate it so it wouldn't have to overcome dry components in the pump. My fuel tank is designed to need self-prime capability as the fuel has to climb out the top of the tank and it worked first try. It pumped a short time and filled the carb. It immediately started and I've put at least 2 hours of heavy mowing in knee tall pasture grass on this fuel pump. I intend to update this review after I run a couple of full cuts on my yard. At this time, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Ok. I'm going to give a review and take in mind I've been a mechanic for over 34 yrs and an aircraft mechanic as well. I bought this pump as I recently purchased a boat which sat for 4 yrs, tank had bad fuel, most evaporated, well need say more? My better half put bout 30 gallons of gas in it so now I have an issue! I got it to pump the fuel out or at least add a fuel additive and circulate it around the tank. Here is the first problem, the screw on metal filter with the barbed nipple only threads in like 3 maybe 4 turns before it gets tight. So I hand tighted it and pressed it back in. Now I got 12ft New fuel line. I didn't insert the brand new 5/16 rubber fuel line when I had to pull it back off to insert the clamp and pop goes the 1/8 -27 NPT brass insert! Just like others have said! Now this brass insert is splined, has a small O ring and it's pressed into the plastic housing. Sooo, if it popped out so easy, I can imagine if I added teflon tape to the filter and cranked it down, it would probably spun the brass insert in the plastic pump housing. Not good. Now I ended up tapping it back in and used it with 2 in line filters to draw fuel out of the Boats tank via its supply line , thru 2 filters, and pump it back into tbe fuel tank for 3 hours each tank till it came out clean BUT I'll add, this pump will NOT draw fuel out if it's place just 2 feet above the fuel level in the tank unless you bring it down to let it prime and then raise it up. The flow, eh, it isn't that great. 3 hours each tank and a few filters later I got fuel running clean again so it did it's job but as a fuel pump on a vehicle, I'd be terrified that insert comes loose, starts a fire and the rest is history! Oh, the red lead wire on mine had exposed strands right where it entered the pump. Bout 1/8" insulation was missing and bare wire was showing, again, fuel, positive wire showing, brass insert defect equals possible disaster. If I had to do this again, I'd buy the all metal one here on Amazon. If you use it for how I used it, and got this one, I'd get it over with, pull the insert as soon as you get it, as it's clean and free of fuel, add some medium model airplane CA glue to the spline and wack it back in, insert the fuel filter with minimal Teflon tape it better yet thread sealant. Insert the line with clamp and NEVER EVER EXPECT TO PULL IT OFF, EVER!!! If the rubber hose has to come off, cut it off. In fact, toss the included filter and get a brass pipe threaded barb and install it as when you pull that filter and you eventually will, you guessed it that brass insert will pop!

Just do yourself a favor, get the all metal one! Oh, I went to return it and missed my return deadline window by 2 days. Go figure!

Pompe plutôt petite mais très surprenante pour sa grosseur seul chose qui devrait être changé c'est le filtre devrait être installé sur la rentrée de l'essence et non sur la sortie cela éviterait les débris d'aller dans la pompe

I used this pump to transfer fuel out of my motorhome tank so it would not go stale over the winter.
