Beginner swimmer, reviewing after one swim (30-40 min) and comparing against the Kraken snorkel:Pros:- Simpler design. Position the headpiece along the tube by friction fit rather than by tightening with a screw. No small pieces to lose or tools needed to tighten.- Purge valve seems to be held in place better, but this still needs to be tested over time. The Kraken valve just fell out and got lost.Cons:- Hard cushion against the forehead as noted by many. It is foam, just not as comfortable as the Kraken.Overall if I could only use one, I would pick the FINIS.

This is my first snorkel. I chose this brand due to positive reviews. It works well for me. I have read that some have difficulty breathing through the snorkel without a nose clip. I do not use a nose clip. I inhale through the snorkel and exhale through my nose. This method seems best for my use. I have difficulty turning my head to breathe because I have a weak right shoulder due to paralysis. This snorkel along with Finis short fins helps me to be able to swim freestyle laps. It took me a little tries to get use to breathing through the snorkel, but I am not having difficulty anymore. I keep a rhythm of air intake to exhale that allows some air to remain in my nostrils.. To help keep air in my nostrils I always start by breathing out through my nose at the first part of the lap. It also helps that my face is looking down to slightly forward as is recommended for the stroke.

As someone who's returned to swimming after a very long layoff, my stroke technique needs some work. A coach recommended getting a snorkel, so after some research I decided on this model. I've had it a few days, and the first thing I can say about it is that it definitely allows you to concentrate on your technique. It is, however, something that will take a while to become truly comfortable with in the pool. One thing I noticed was that I have a tendency to tilt my head and look forward a little more than at the bottom of the pool. Overall, though, it seems like a great tool for improving stroke technique. The head harness fits well with goggles, at least on my forehead. It does, however, seems as though it was designed for someone with a larger head. The harness keeps it in place, even during flip turns, but clearing it without having water go down the wrong pipe will require a bit of practice. I've seen others at practice using this same snorkel, and they don't have any problems so I really think it is mostly a matter of practice and getting used to it. When you first get it, I recommend putting the snorkel in the harness on dry land and adjusting the position up or down so that when the snorkel is in your mouth, the silicone part with the mouthpiece isn't bent up or down. Once you have that figured out, go to the pool and make any refinements you need. Overall, this seems like a good product and good solution to a complex problem. It just takes practice, I guess, to make it really work well.

These have been a joy to use. I can practice my swim stroke without having to rotate to breath. Since the tube is long, one can still roll the body to do a proper catch and pull stroke. I only do normal laps, so I don't know how this snorkel fares for the flip-turns type of swimmers.

Maintenance: After pool swim I rinse in tap water. I gently pour water down tube and with thumb I close off the mouth inlet. This clears the purge valve of any debri. Then I hang to dry with long tube hanging down.

Pros:
1. Length of tube. Rarely get water in it doing freestyle.
2. Air volume. Haven't noticed any issue with getting enough air.
3. No leakage. Been using a month of daily swims.
4. Sturdy position. Hasn't moved at all from set position (vertical)

Cons:
a. The forehead pad is very hard.

I bought a Finis swimmers snorkel 10 years ago. LOVED IT. It was great, comfortable, sturdy, and held up really well. Finally, this year the headband strap broke and the soft rubber mouth part was starting to show wear. So I bought a new one. Because of weather and work, it took me a few weeks to finally get back to the pool and use it.

What a huge disappointment. Finis has clearly changed a number of things on the previous design. The snorkel looks nearly identical, but it is SO SO uncomfortable. I can’t wear it for more than one lap as the hard head band is painful. No adjustments I make help. He mouth piece is smaller but more awkward in my mouth. And, to make all of these worse, the headband comes off while I’m swimming, which results in sudden influx of pool water through the snorkel into my mouth. This is supposed to help me swim laps, but result in me coughing and spluttering in the middle of the pool.

I gave it three tries for laps, and when no amount of ‘breaking in’ was making it better, I decided to return it. Of course, I missed the return window by a day. So now I’m stuck with this piece of junk.

Save your money and the actual physical pain of getting this to work, and buy a different brand.

On 27 januari 2023 I bought this finis snorkel. As a competition swimmer, I use it almost daily. Overall the snorkel is ok, not the best fit in the mouth but it does the job. However, yesterday on the 19th september 2023, the plastic bar that holds the elastic in place, broke (see pictures). I tried to put on the snorkel as usual when suddenly the elastic jumped loose. This piece should be made stronger, this clearly is a weak point in the design. My other snorkel (from another brand) lasted +-10 years. I'll try to get a refund or replacement from the seller.
