Used To Replace Airtag Battery As Duracell CR032 Batteries Dont Work Due To Child Coating
- I specifically bought these Energizer batteries because the Duracell CR032 batteries are coated with a protective layer that makes them unusable with the Apple Airtag. I tried to install the Duracell CR032 battery into an Airtag after my iPhone had alerted me that the battery was low on that Airtag and needed to be replaced but the Airtag wouldn't work with a brand new Duracell CR032 battery.- The Duracell CR032 batteries have a bitter coating on the cell that discourages swallowing by toddlers/kids. According to participants in the Apple Support Community forums, this coating prevents a connection/contact between the Duracell CR032 battery terminals and the Airtag.- Think of it as black ice preventing the traction between a car tire and the road.- When I attempted to 'restart' my Airtag, my iphone displayed the 'AirTag Not Reachable Move around to connect“ error.- I tried many things to get the Airtag to work with the Duracell battery but nothing worked.- Once I used this Energizer CR32 battery, the Airtag worked.- These batteries come in a pack of 6.- The batteries come with a childproof cover/casing that prevents babies or toddlers from getting to the battery.- I had to use a small pair of scissors to cut the protective plastic shell! That's how tough this protective casing is!- The label states that the batteries expire in 03/2032. (March 2032) It's April 2023 now so, if their labeling is correct, the batteries have a 9 year shelf life.- I am planning to use these on my remaining Airtags as they seem to work in the Airtags, unlike the Duracell CR032 batteries which have a child-proof coating.- The battery seems to last for one (1} year in an Airtag, so i'll definitely use up all these 6 batteries before their expiry date in March, 2023.
