From the title to the cover, I'd like to encourage all sports fans young, and old alike, to purchase Sports Shorts by Del Duduit. In an time when kids need a hero, its an inspiration to see so many sports hero's proclaiming and living the Christian lifestyle to give them someone to look up to who points them in the right direction. I love the format of this devotional. A personal story from favorite players, to include the Big Moment, the Big Play, a Coach's Corner and each devotion ending with a scripture to tie it all together. Christian baseball and football players at their best, to inspire you to do your best!

Sports are interwoven into our society as many levels, but many times we may disregard the plentiful opportunities for life lessons. This book by Del Duduit is a perfect reminder that even the youngest on the playing field can benefit from the examples the players they sometimes mimic set. Del brings a refreshing change of pace to the constant barrage of breaking news of scandals and poor character so prevalent in sports. He brings it to readers of all levels in a way that is easy to understand and comprehend, illustrating that character and values do still exist. But the book also shows that while not every sports star is perfect, by following the example of Christ, the pathway can eventually be made straight again. This book is one for the next generation and highly recommended. If your kid plays sports, this would be a great book for them, or for the coach who has taken a vested interest in the character development of your child. Each story is broken down into what I would call the field, or the setup. Then you get The Big Moment which outlines why the lesson is important. Then comes The Big Play, which is filled with Christian life applications. And finally, The Coaches Corner, which is really the "how do I apply this in my own life." Del's devotions are a great way for young and old to see God working in their own life, but also to learn how to bring others to Christ. This book does it in a relatable, effective way which makes it a treat for everyone - especially those who are curious about a relationship with Jesus. Del's words and those of the player's stories draw everyone in to experience transformation and it's a great quick read that makes you want to get out there on the field and impact others!
