Grade 8 Up—Harrington promises to reveal the most powerful law in the universe that teens can then use to "create the life of their dreams." He calls it the "law of attraction." He goes on to promote believing in oneself and following one's passions as a way to find fame and fortune. Thinking positive thoughts is all well and good, but when the author writes that optimistic thinking will clear up pimples or that avoiding news coverage about current events (because it will only attract bad thoughts) will keep you healthy and on the right track, it puts the credibility of this self-help guide in doubt. Then Harrington writes that whatever happens to you is a result of what you think about. "Victims of tragedy didn't ask for their fate (and they totally didn't deserve it). They probably didn't even know they were capable of attracting stuff. But still, there's an attraction. And that's because the law of attraction operates whether you know about it or not. People who don't know THE SECRET are attracting by default." This is cruel advice to give to an adolescent. If a 13-year-old who is being abused reads this, will he think that the abuse is his fault because he attracted it? What about a 17-year-old whose boyfriend hits her? Did she attract the violence? For the last couple of years, I have been working on teaching "The Secret" to my 12-year-old daughter, explaining to her about mindfulness and how to be deliberate in her thought. Have read just about every book by Esther Hicks. Also followed the "plan" in  Ask Believe Receive , which has really brought us closer, since we worked on manifesting things as a team. Still, I wanted something made for a younger audience, to break down everything in a way she could easily understand. This book does that.

This book is very similar to the Secret (and follows the same basic outline) but a little more "hip" as far as language goes. It's done in a way kids can relate to, yet still holds the same basic message.

This is the book you wished you had as a kid. It encourages hopes and dreams and let's you know what you want is possible! Even if you're skeptical of the Law of Attraction, to me, this aspect is worth buying it for. It is very encouraging.

Pretty much everything a teen goes through is here, with some stuff my generation wasn't aware of, such as the environment and global community.

I am looking forward to going through this with my daughter.

Something I have done, which you may find helpful, is purchase two copies. I did this so my daughter can give a copy to one of her friends and they can work on manifesting things together. In all the reading I have done, as well as from personal experience, I have found that it is very helpful to have a group of like-minded people in your life. Doing this is one way to make sure she has that.

The reason why I love this book so much is because it talks directly to teens. It uses words and examples in their language. It gives examples on school, friendships, relationships, etc. My daughter and I read a chapter together each night. Teens have to learn that life is an experience and not the end of the world every time something goes wrong in their world.

Aimed at teenagers this book provides an easy, interesting and insightful read whilst explaining The Secret in thier language. The author links in to teen specific issues and provides plenty of examples and expierences which will help motivate and inspire the reader to improve his/her life. I'm really looking forward to watching my kids manifest the life of their choice and I know this book will help them along the way.

I really like how the book encourages them to be accountable for their lives and how they feel- just like the Secret does for adults. The quotes are great because she is seeing that these ideas are not just the opinion of the author but have been used for ages by many people she recognizes. It is also easier to have a discussion on things that aren't 'mom's crazy ideas'. We read, discuss, and the I encourage her to think about it more and take from it what she wants and see if she sees as time goes on how any of what she is learning can apply to things she experiences. I'm excited to see what she takes from it and how it has a positive impact.

This is an excellent book to teach teens with. If they do not take the time to read it, then the adult can read it and teach them on a teen level. The only part I had any objection to was on one page there is a quote by our President Obama. Which is a good quote. Then a couple of pages past this quote was a piece about Donald Trump that was more negative. I realize the copyright was 2009, but it sounded a little political to me.

Upon reading it, he immediately started using the "Law of Attraction" as a means of getting things he desired through employing techniques he learned in the book. By thinking positively and visualizing himself as having already obtained the objects of his desire, he was able to attract one in an amazingly short time. For instance, he set a goal to purchase an expensive video game, but without using his cash-on-hand.

Using methods he learned from the book, he visualized himself with the desired video game and focused on the feelings of happiness that will result from getting it. As he began to practice this, he found a wallet containing money he had lost months ago; next,to his amazement, he found a $20 bill lying on the sidewalk, exactly the amount of money he needed to purchase the game. He was ecstaticlly happy, and he had learned an important lesson on how his attitude and thoughts are of utmost importance in reaching his personal goals.
